Gibbs Scholarship   
 
Applications will be emailed to graduates of Atchison County High Schools that have completed 28 credit hours of post-secondary classes.  If you would contact the Fairfax High School at 660-686-2851, I will email you the current application.  The application is due June 1.  If you are chosen to receive this scholarship, you must attend a luncheon that is always held the last Friday of June to receive your award.  The scholarship usually varies in amounts given.  Thank you, Mrs. Eaton.

Always remember!  Early is on time, on time is late! 

Get organized and complete your scholarships early with out a last minute rush.  You do your best work when you can take your time!  If a scholarships says print or type--always type!  If it's between you and someone else format, content, and grammar are vital! 

Always keep previous scholarships until you graduate from college.  You never know when you can use some information from a past application!

When a college representative comes to the school, they will come during lunch. You may bring your lunch tray to the library and eat during the presentation. Teachers will dismiss students going during the first bell. Grades 10, 11, and 12 are welcome.

Seniors are allowed two excused days to visit colleges they are interested in. Juniors are allowed one excused day to visit colleges.

The FAFSA is all new this year! So it might be a good idea to go to a meeting and learn about the changes before getting into the application. I will let you know when I hear about FAFSA nights in the area:

Mound City FAFSA night is Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 6:00 pm in the Library on 3rd floor.

I have been posting scholarships (to Google Classroom) recently and will continue to do so as I am made aware of them. Scholarships in Google Classroom usually give a short introduction to the scholarship and will contain a link to the application. See if you can share your child's Google Classroom password so you can all be aware of dates that are approaching. **Go to your colleges website and apply there!** Some of their deadlines are early!

If a scholarship is due at 9am that does not mean you can ask to get out of your 1st hour class to work on it. Get organized, write due dates down, work ahead.

If you get done with a scholarship before the due date, please turn it into me. You can also share a scholarship with me on google docs or email it to me and I will print your applications. If you are going to need a transcript or a letter of recommendation from me, please give me a week's notice.
